Ecodorp Boekel was asked to give a presentation to 12 members of the European Economic and Social Commission (and 110 other people from European organizations) about the connection between man and nature, as we have realized in our ecovillage (and will realize). So we talked about the ecosystem services that we all use (and thus strengthen our natural environment) and the measurable biodiversity plan for our residential area, which is part of the Delta Plan.
As a member of ECOLISE, the European network organisation of ecovillages, Transition Networks, we were asked to give this presentation as one of four Best Practices that show that citizen initiatives are already putting the EU policy (the European Green Deal) into practice or can realize it.
If you want to know more about the EU’s position on this, you can also watch the entire 2-hour session that took place online on 28 November. Daniel Mes from Frans Timmermans ‘ team explains the EU’s position on the importance of citizen initiatives. The introduction to my presentation is given by Nina Klein from ECOLISE .
